Many thanks to everyone who replied.
I did end up getting the Alexia, with single PID. It arrived yesterday, and shortly afterward there was a prolonged power outage. Now that power is back, tomorrow will be my first use of the machine; we'll see how that goes. I'm looking forward to years of good espresso, especially after I get familiar with the machine.

Great choice. Did you go through Chris Coffee with the Watlow PID installed? If you have any questions, let us know. Feel free to PM me if you need to as you get on your feet with the machine.
