Hi, please can someone help?
I am installing an Auber PID on my Silvia and I am stuck at step 5, 'Install the controller box grounding wire to the boiler'. I Must be thick as the picture looks like to me that you remove one of the existing wires piggyback that into the 'PID wire' and then add the PID wire direct to the boiler. Please see the picture attached.
The thing is the 'PID wire' does not have a hole large enough to fit direct onto the boiler so instead I assume that the 'PID wire' piggy backs onto the existig wire?

Piggyback to boiler. I had a downloaded pdf, though I ended up with Gaggia. My instruction set for Kit-RSPb showed a picture fig 21, with the green piggyback supplied by Auber on the boiler. Remove the existing wire, put on the Auber green wire in its place, and put the existing wire onto the Auber piggyback.

Hi, thanks for your reply, what you say is what I interpreted from the documentation. The problem is the green wire from Auber seems more substantial in fig21 than what they sent. At the start of the documentation they show pictures of all the components and the green cable I have is the same as the documentation.
If you look at my picture you can see the 2 original wires have a big hole which the boiler screw goes through. The PID wire has a tiny hole and is also a smaller wire than the original silvia ones.
Playing with another wire in the PID kit I can piggy back the wires however the PID wire seems too small for the silvia wire to piggy back on to.

I believe the green wire from Auber has the red insulator in fig 21, and is small in gauge. Because of shadow/lighting, the small Auber wire seems black to the L of the hose. The Auber wire has the piggy back fitting with the original wire on top of that with a gold fitting. Your picture does not have a female gold spade, not that I am concerned with color. The figure 21 that I have appears to have a gold female slid onto a male spade. In your picture, it appears that you removed the male spade with a large round hole from the boiler bolt instead of sliding the gold spade off of the male spade. When I look at the similar wires in fig 20, there appears to be a male spade under the bolt and the instruction is to remove one of the wires, meaning slide it off the spade, not remove it from under the bolt. I do not have a machine to lok at, so I am just interpreting the instructions and figures. Did you perhaps leave the male spade from under the bolt in the spade making it seem like the female spade has the hole?

LOL! I was suspicious when I googled for this and returned no results that I was the only numpty on the planet to not understand the highly acclaimed auber instructions!
You are right, the silvia wire was attached to a Male spade at the boiler screw. I removed the wire as you suggested leaving the spade in situ and it worked!

Happy to help. I believe that you removed a boiler bolt to get the male spade off. Make sure that the boiler bolt is snug and check for leaks when you start to use it again. Enjoy your PID!
