Having read through all the previous posts, I am still having difficulty with my new machine. First, I can not get the pressure above 7 and I cannot get the time to exceed 20 seconds, including the 10 seconds for pre-infusion time. If I make the grind more fine, I just get a few drips of liquid. I have also experimented with tamping more less pressure, but that does not seem to effect the outcome. I have also tried different coffees, and no effect. I am weighing the coffee precisely, using 18 grams. On another issues, my shots are less then one ounce. Should I manually try to reprogram this, and if so, what is easiest way to do this. Thanks, and sorry if these are old questions, but, i just can't seem to get it right.

you didn't say which machine you're using. you might be surprised to hear that it does matter. also, it would be god for us to know which grinder you're using. the best thing you can do besides provide that info is to shoot a video clip of a shot.

with the limited information you provided, i'm gonna guess that it's an issue with the coffee you're using and the grind size. so yeah, we'll definitely need more info from you otherwise we're just guessing.
like emradguy said, machine, grinder, coffee would definitely be helpful to know about.
also, i dont have a preinfusion function on my machine but, 10 seconds of preinfusion sounds like a really long time.

Sorry all. Thought I was posting to the Breville Doubler Boiler thread. The pre-infusion duration of 10 seconds is set right in the middle of that suggested by the manufacturer (5-10 seconds). I am using the Capresso Infinity grinder. I have used several coffees, including from my local roaster, as well as beans from Whole Latte Love (Be stimulated). Thanks.

Hey David - welcome to Coffee Geek. It sounds like it is your grinder. From what I have read about that grinder is it does not grind fine enough for espresso.

I'll keep this here for now. David, if you want, I'll delete this thread, and you can re-post on the Breville Owners thread. You cannot cross post, so this would have to go. Please PM me and let me know if you want to re-post. If you have started a new thread on the BDB thread, I;'ll delete this one. RJ
