Hey all,

I need to diagnose and fix my Rancilio Silva. Seems it won't pump and died over the last 3 days. OUT COMES THE PRESS POT!
I am looking for advice, instructions, places to get parts (if necessary) and schematics/drawings.

Welcome to CG.

You may want to supply a little more info.  When was it descaled and how often?  Does the pump run?  If the pump runs, will it pump with the steam wand open?  Does it light up and heat?

A start on parts and diagram.

Thanks,

This unit has never been descaled...oops.
The pump runs and water come through both the head and the steam tube.
There is less volume thru the steam outlet and little, if any, pressure thru the head. (There is not enough pressure to push through 1 shot of espresso grind.)
In addition there is a boiling/bubbling sound when the unit heats up.

All these symptoms are new in the last 3 weeks and may correspond to our changing from bottled spring water to our medium hardness treated well water about 3 months ago.

Here is another thread along the same line.  There is a troubleshooting quide in the thread.  Scale may well be the problem.  How about backflush and the 3 way valve?

http://coffeegeek.com/forums/espresso/machines/217797

There several active/current threads by "mojoneill" about disassembly and cleaning.

As you look through this you will get more info.  I do not have a Silvia and will defer to others who do.  The more you know about the problem and describe it, the more info you will get in return.  Search silvia, flow, plugged, and similar terms on combination.

There is plenty of help on CG.
