I am with Nobby, UH, what key? I suppose it is possible that a prior owner ADDED a key for some reason but, personally, I am unaware of any key that is required on any machine.

Wayne, Nobby -- the Elektra "Sixties" machines have a small, round key -- like some burglar alarms and elevators use -- that permits one to program the volumetric dosing features . . . .

To the best of my knowledge, the keys are different for every machine. Or, at least, there are different keys (perhaps a limited number), and therefore (for example) my key might not fit your machine. I would think that either the manufacturer or an authorized repair facility might be able to supply a replacement key.

AH, got ya. I would tend to think that it would not be all that hard to bypass the key, it isn't like these machines are made theft proof while sitting on the street. I suspect (and it is only a wild A$$ guess) that if you pop the top off, access to the back side of the switch would be fairly easy to get to. YMMV on this one for sure!!!!

Very easy to bypass, but also easy to get a key. Got mine from Espressocare when I rebuilt my T1. Note: Different years have different keys according to Stefano at EspressoCare (and he KNOWS his Elektra machines).
