Hey all, I have a Silvia v3. When I close the valve after steaming, it takes ~4 or so seconds for the steam to slow down. Is there a way to tighten the valve itself? Should I clean it and get new gaskets? Or is this just the norm? It isn't super irritating, but I steam before pulling the shot so every second counts...

4 seconds seems like a long time. Especially since the path from teh valve to the tip is relatively short. Are you closing it tight enough? How old is it? The valves are easy enough to rebuild. Maybe post a video of it for others to see who own the same verion to compare, but it sounds like the valve would use a new cock gasket.

THanks for the response. Yea, I'm closing it very tight, I'm almost uncomfortable with the amount of pressure I use. The machine is an early version V3, I think the previous owner got it around 2009. I'll post a video steaming water in a glass tomorrow.

It does sound like it needs attention, my Silvia stops nearly instantly when turned off and the spring loaded valves on my ECM only take about a second to bleed off pressure from the steam system and it has much longer pipes than the Silvia.

Looks like I should rebuild it, it appears to stay open for a lot longer than I thought. I really had to crank the nob to close it all the way... Yesterday the boiler was a little low also (ran the hot water pump through the steam wand for ~6 seconds before water came out), I certainly don't want to burn the element out.
