I know that you can program the CC1 POD setting to do whatever you want, but I assume since they named one of the menu items "PODS" that the machine is capable of using them. I don't know anything about pods... can someone fill me in? I know what a Kcup brewer is (I own one), so I am assuming the pods are the same thing for espresso. I was thinking you would need some kind of portafilter adapter, but don't see any such thing for the CC1 even though there is a POD setting on the menu... just wondering.

PODs . . . hmmmm, where to start? Well, I want to say run away as fast as you can!, but you use K-cups, so perhaps a different response is in order.
Using pods to make espresso is like using K-cups to make brewed coffee . . . except worse. That is to say, you can make an excellent cup of coffee from freshly roasted, freshly ground beans. A K-cup can't equal that quality, but it can make a more-than-acceptable cup. Espresso pods basically suck. I don't think they come even remotely to making great -- or even very good -- espresso. If all that's available for espresso is pods, I'll drink tea.
I do own a Kcup brewer... I bought it because everyone told me how great they were... but I don't use it. I would consider it worse than my ENA4. My parents want the Kcup brewer I have... I told them they could have it.
I doubt I would use a pod... just wanted to know what it was for sure because I am still shopping for a espresso machine. I assumed it was something like the Kcup, but wasn't sure how they were thought of and if I needed to buy something extra to use pods on the CC1. I would always try a pod.... you never know until you try it.

Since no one offered an answer, I called SCG and asked them. They say that the CC1 WILL NOT do pods even though there is a POD menu on the program menu... seems a little odd to me, but that is the answer I got.
I know that most people would say "why would you do pods" but I just wanted to know if that was an option or not.
I may decide the convenience is worth the loss of quality.. I doubt it, but I just wanted to know if it was an option before I made my final decision. If everything else was equal, I would consider that a plus just in the event I wanted to try a pod. After all, I own a super auto because I wanted convenience.

Seems like part of him doesn't want to give up the push button convenience. I understand that but accept I have to deal with grinds. One way or the other.
