I am fairly new to espresso and was experimenting with my Via Venezia. I decided to follow the instructions for depressurizing the portafilter to see if my grinder was good enough to pull some nice shots. It was fairly easy.
The problem now is that I can't re-pressurize it! I'm trying to reassemble, and not getting the white plastic piece to connect back into the metal one. All the holes line up.
When I do put it together the inside white piece tends to slip, and then the handle doesn't slide back to the left automatically.
Are there any steps I can take to help fix the problem? A couple pics of the pieces are here to help!

push the black disk out or higher inside the portafilter body enough so it clears the center hole position the white assembly matching the recessed holes then while you are holding the white push the black back in untill it snaps carefull to the small clip and the main spring
