I wouldn't expect anyone to be there for a few years. It has only been out for a year or so. 6000 shots would be about 20 per day. Mine is 13 months old and is around 1100 shots. Still working perfectly.

All I can add to this thread is I enjoyed my DB for 11 months and then it started acting wonky. Upon attaching the issue on an email + my invoice of purchase they gave me a return authorization and sent me a new unit. Other then the pain of not having my machine for 10 days I am very happy with the customer service, professional and fast. If anyone is hesitating on a purchase don't the espresso produced and all the features of this machine will blow you away.

It's my understanding the "service" prompt will pop up, but the machine will continue to work normally. I remember reading this somewhere online, but I haven't been able to find that info again, so I can't be sure it's correct.
As far as Breville customer service goes, it's top notch. I exchanged my original Dual Boiler for a replacement after realizing the OPV was set too high. The second machine developed a different problem, so Breville has offered to replace it again. I have never been without a machine. They took my c/c number & placed a hold ($200 IIRC), then immediately sent the replacement via FedEx 2-Day. After I got the new machine, they sent a link to print return FedEx labels, and then I just dropped off the old unit at FedEx. Breville released the hold on the c/c as soon after FedEx scanned in the label.
