My husband wants a tamper for our Bezzera BZ02s. While I love drinking great lattes, my husband is the coffee nerd in our family. I'm overwhelmed by all the reviews. Could someone help me with what tamper to buy and where to shop on-line? We are currently using a plastic tamper. Thanks so much!
Any metal tamper you buy will do wonders to replace the plastic tamper you are using now.
If you want something a little cheaper, any local coffee equipment supply shop which sells espresso machines will sell metal tampers.
I thought I should comment, if they seem a little expensive, it's because they're handmade.. They won't make the coffee taste any better, but I think, at least IMHO that they make an excellent gift.

yeah, the Reg Barber tampers are great, and I have a couple custom ones. However, as said above, they're expensive. One benefit is they have interchangeable bases that can be bought in varying metals, depending on desired weight and looks. Also, the bottom surface can be bought with varying contours. Last benefit (that I see) is the size can be custom fit for your pf basket.
Now, having said all that, the tamp is one of the least important steps in making great espresso and there are MANY good quality tampers on the market for MUCH cheaper. Just find one that looks good, seems to cost about right and most importantly, fits your basket(s). All of the online shops that are frequented by the members here sell them. To name a few (in no particular order)...

yeah, it's not going to be on the basket or the handle. I'd try the manufacturer's website or the product page from a place that sells them, or see if the search engine on this site can help you...though if you're lucky, someone who knows it off the top of his/her head will post in this thread.
