Can anyone assist me with finding someplace to get service work done on a Gaggia Classic? The seal where the coffee basket attaches is cracked. I could probably replace it myself if I could find the seal. Thanks
Replacing it is as easy as getting the old out - it may help to remove the shower screen to do this, but you don't have to. Screwing a couple of short wood screws into the old one can help you get a purchase on it with pliers to apply some leverage. Fitting the new one is a matter of cleaning the gasket seat, placing the gasket in as far you can get it and then using the portafilter and basket to seat it fully. The portafilter will not fit easily the first time as the gasket won't have been compressed.
Replacing it is a standard service item every 6 months or so (depending on use) so being able to do it yourself is a big saving. Now is also the time to descale the machine, btw...
