Hi!
I'd like to replace my pressurized portafilter baskets used with Rowenta Opio with a non-pressurized variant. However it seems the manufacturer does not offer them. Is there any chance I'd be able to get some universal filters? The size if the basket is 60 mm (the largest size) (~2.36 inches).
I guess the size is maybe standardized, but only for professional-grade coffee machines?
Thanks
p.s.: I know my Rowenta Opio is probably a crappy machine and I plan to buy something better :)
I think you need to measure the internal diameter of the basket or the diameter of a tamper that fits closely in the basket. But 60mm outside diameter sounds a bit too close to very common/de facto standard 58mm internal diameter to be that size - the edges of the basket should be a bit more than 1mm thick. Also, from looking at photos of the machine, the portafilter basket looks a bit narrower than a 58mm basket, but obviously I can't be sure that way.
From espressoParts.com - "The measurements of a basket (or portafilter) is in a way in non-issue. It should be noted, and cannot be stressed enough, that it is the size of a tamper base, be it 45 or 58mm, that is measured, and not the portafilter or the basket itself. The most prolific manufactures on the market use portafilter baskets that accept a 58mm tamper base. The rest (with one, hardly needing mention, exception), are smaller."
