I have had the machine for 6 months now. My wife has a "milk" drink every day now, but the double shot I do comes up with no crema. And I did get it at one time, but it had the sickly sweet taste. I have the grinder up pretty much all the way. I am using Intellegentsia Black Cat organic beans. I would like to get back to having a plain shot myself. Now its just pretty much coffee. And the machine is great at frothing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

As Jason eluded to...beans older than about 2 weeks after roasting are usually stale, and once your coffee beans go stale, you can't get crema anymore.
