Craig, those numbers are saturated steam temperatures for a sealed steam boiler. They have no relevance at all for a brew boiler.

As I'm sure you know, brew boiler temps run ~200F +/- a few degrees.

The botualism illness is from the preformed toxin, heat labile at about 176C for 10 minutes.  The spores are much more heat resistant as noted, found in many soils and water.

Why, are NY doctors held to a higher standard or a lower standard?

Please pray tell.

The arrogance of doctors is legendary, but my experience has usually been different. Most of the doctors I've seen in a professional capacity have discussed the situation openly, and seemed pretty careful to distinguish fact from opinion.

Along those lines, thank you emradguy for the gracious reply.

A guy dies and goes to heaven. He's pleased to meet an old friend there, who graciously offers to show him around the place.

At midday they're in the lunchroom where food is served cafeteria style. While waiting in the long line, another fellow wearing a white coat and stethoscope cuts ahead of them, pushing people out of the way, and yells at the server that he wants bigger portions.

The new recruit whispers to his friend, "Who the hell is THAT jerk?"

The friend says, "Oh, that's God. He thinks he's a doctor."
