I have an oscar simonelli, in the manual they do not mention backflash. Is it possible to do backflash with oscar or this might damage the unit?

Welcome to CoffeeGeek!

As far as I know the Oscar does not come equipped with magnetic 3-way-valve (take a look at this hydraulic plan), so you cannot backflush the machine.

Yes Oscar can be back flushed, yes it does have a 3 way solenoid.

Never could read the hydraulic plan so could not say if it includes the 3way.

I back flush with water after every session to clear loose grinds and back flush with detergent once a week or after heavy use. After a detergent back flush I take the diffuser and shower screen off and soak int back flush detergent to get the built up oil off. The detergent when back flushing is cleaning areas in the group, 3way valve, the opv, and lines to the drip tray.

Hello everyone.

the 3-way solenoid is ref 04100037 (or 04100038 here in europe) on the NS spare part list
So yes you can, and you should backflush.

Mine came with a back flushing disk and I removed and cleaned the 3 way valve.  Yes you can and should back flush.
