I think that this is the way to go. I'm not sure what your Breville will net you used, but an LP Europiccola can be had in decent condition for about $300, some times less. It's compact, simple to maintain, and built to last. It's a natural fit with a hand grinder. With good beans, a little practice, and a thermometer on the group, you can consistently pull shots equal to an average shot that a good cafe would serve (or better, I've pulled two shot that I would consider "god shots" on LPs, which is pretty good as far as I'm concerned).

It occurs to me that something cool this site could offer might be a "send coffee to our troops" kind of thread, where coffeegeeks could sign up to send freshly roasted coffee to other coffeegeeks deployed overseas. Or something. I don't know what average shipping times are, or anything, but I would love to participate in something like that.
Something similar already exists: Green Beans Coffee Cup of Joe for a Joe Program. It's something I contribute to when I'm not deployed. They've got these shops at almost every deployed location, and it's a great way to help a deployed member get a "decent" cup of coffee.
That said, I'm sure anything that the members of this board would send would be light years better than what Green Beans serve.
