We currently have a DeLonghi BAR32. We are considering getting a replacement espresso machine, but I'm not sure we are ready for an expensive upgrade.
Seattle Coffee Gear has the Aroma and the Via Venezia for great prices. However, I am not sure if they would be upgrades at all, considering they are the same style as the DeLonghi.

From what I understand, the Bistro is NOT able to do a true espresso grind, but can do fine enough for a pressurized portafilter. I would argue that a used Aroma/Classico/Via Venezia/Vapore/Rio Vapore..etc would be an upgrade if it works well. Saeco's build quality is miles ahead of DeLonghi's and you have room to grow when you can afford a better grinder and a non-pressurized PF (Seattle Coffee Gear has some handsome ones, including a custom bottomless PF). As someone who had several of both Saeco's models, I'll say they both are capable machines. You can always find them locally on CL.

Hmm. Looking at this topic, I can see why they feel the Bistro does not grind fine enough. However, ours grinds much finer than that. I will get a pic when I have a chance.
Thank you for the suggestions. We will consider it. :) I have also depressurized our portafilter, and will be giving it a try tomorrow.
