Johnny, stupid question, but are you making sure to bleed the false pressure from the steam wand a few minutes after turning it on? The Oscar lacks a vacuum breaker so you've got to do this every time you power up the machine. Mine stays on 24/7, so I often forget to do this on the rare occasions it has to be turned off and then later back on again. Often times, the heating element won't kick on for more than a few seconds unless you do this.

Another issue, which I'm loathe to bring up, but it is definitely a possibility is the autofill chip box or "brain." My machine's brain actually got doused with water during my boiler clean out while plugged in (don't ask) and the machine shorted and shut off! After drying, it began to work again. I would take the bottom panel off (while it's unplugged) and inspect the brain, maybe drying it out with some canned air and putting it in front of a fan for a few hours before trying again. I finally watched your videos and it definitely looks to be an overfull boiler, but the only reason it would continue to try and pump into it is because the fill probe was dirty (time for that descale) or the brain was on the fritz.

Well, i definitely had water everywhere during my descale and draining the boiler so maybe it did get wet. I just changed the probe yesterday so its brand new.
Ill pull the bottom off and check the brain!!

I'm relieved to hear that! As you've found out, being an Oscar owner has its ups and downs. But when Oscar works, it's a truly rewarding experience. They're good machines for hands-on types and those who like pain with their coffee.

haha...I'm starting to learn that rather quickly. I sure do know a whole lot more about the inner workings than I did a week ago. I guess that's the positive in the situation!!

Update:
Well, the Oscar has returned as a grouch. Having a similar problem. The heat light won't come on again. I've checked the reset button numerous times and it's punched all the way in.
Not sure what to check or test this time. I used the machine to pull 6-8 shots today and it worked fine. It stayed on for 4 or so hours and I tried to make a drink and it started to have the problem.
suggestions?
Johnny
