My espresso machine has been sold and emptied of as much water as possible from the steam boiler. Without disassembling the boiler, some water remains. Two questions:
Will this water present a problem if the machine is shipped to northeastern New York State at this time of year with freezing temperatures??
Is it likely that the boiler and lines could split/rupture from the freezing water inside of the machine??

We are in a serious cold spell in the NE, it is 10f out this morning and the high yesterday was 17f. The 10 day says we go above 35f next week around Philadelphia anyway.

Yes there is a danger, the easiest thing is to put anti freeze in the boilers before shipping. If you do not have access to food safe antifreeze use something like Vodka. Just put it in the water tank and run the pump until the solution comes out of the GH and water wand.
