Subject: Got my new Silvia form SCG , but I am not sure if it is new or not

Is it possible that I've got a used machine / or a machine from display? from SCG ?
I've ordered the Silvia with the PID.
The machine does look new, however
  1. The water tank had some water inside.
  2. There is a clear big red dot on front of the machine maybe it is how they mark machine that were installed and tested with the PID? I don't know, or maybe it means that this is a refurbished machine ?
  3. the metal at the brew had has some clear water marks

So my question is, do you think that this is a used machine, or just that after installing the PID it was tested to make sure all is OK, which is totally legitimate?

No they get tested at factory....enjoy. You have a machine that will last a long long time.

I know for sure that when they install the Electronic controller with PID they test the machine with water.  Not sure what the red dot is however.

The red dot indicates the locked-in position of the portafilter.  Rancilio added the dot in the V2 machine.

It's really best to ask SCG these questions directly. They have great customer service and willing to help out.

I've contacted SCG today, they had no idea aobut the red dot and I was asked to send them a picture of the machine to their support e-mail address, so I did .
Waiting for their answer.

I hope you are correct about the red dot. For some reason it does not show in the manual and it looks like someone added it there to mark a defect. Anyway SCG customer service were willing to help out , as you said and asked me to send them a .jpg of the machine. Hopefully it is as you said and I was just surprised to see it.  I will update once I get an answer.

No, he's right about the dot. I had a v1 and a v2 for a while and one of them had the dot too. Don't worry. SCG isn't going to scam you
