Posted Thu Feb 21, 2013, 9:03pm Subject: La Pavoni 2 Group - need help
Hello,
I recently purchased a used, older model la pavoni 2 group that was completely stripped and rebuilt a couple of years ago. with an electricians help, i was able to hook it up to my dryer outlet to get the 220 power to it. i am working on getting it hooked up directly to a water source, but for now i am using a five gallon water jug of filtered water and sticking the intake hose directly into the water jug. I was told this is what is done in catering atmospheres and should suffice temporarily.
When i powered up the machine, i waited for the machine to warm up and build pressure. the steam wands worked perfect, the water spout worked, yet when i tried to pull water out of the two group heads, no water would come out. i would wait 10-15 seconds and then the little green light by the manual button would start flashing, then i would just stop it from trying. i was trying to pull without the portafilter attached. i also tried it with the empty portafilter attached.
what could be wrong? i tried cleaning the group heads. i even unscrewed the screening and made sure that they were decently clean.
also, what is the cheapest way to soften water? i have a water filter system that i got at Lowes for 30 bucks with carbon filters. will this suffice or do i also need a water softening mechanism as well?
