if you need a how-to on how to lube your E61 lever, there are excellent guides on www.espressomyespresso.com - both step by step walkthrough and video.
I plain water backflush once or twice after every session and detergent bf once a month. drop screen and gasket evry 2 months. A tip if you get in to dropping the screen and gasket frequently put a very thin layer of lube on your gasket and wipe off just to leave it slightly lubed before reinserting after taking out once or twice is comes out and easly goes back in no probs with no force needed

I completely stopped doing detergent backflushes on the E-61. I plain water backflush after every session and do a PF wiggle at the same time. If I feel it needs more then it is time for disassembly and a thorough cleaning and lubrication. I found that detergent backflushing leaves the lever operating more stiffly which indicates friction which leads to (or contributes to) wear.

I thought about starting to do this also. you'll find after you drop your screen a few times that the detergent doesnt work as well as you thought but will lower some of the buildup. pf wiggle with a duetto can get messy sometimes just to forwarn the op.
