Here's the machine's nameplate info: It looks like it uses 3800 watts???!!!! If so that's a lot no? hard to convert? just curious.... this machine needs repair as well the tank won't stop filling so says the seller. Any thoughts appreciated. regards, mitch (Click for larger image)

If you don't want to use that machine on a 220V circuit, you don't want to buy it. You can get a decent, single group, heat exchange unit designed to work in an american house at 110V for less than $2000. If you ask the question, you're obviously not in a position to do the job, so... Repairing a machine like that one and replacing logic board, power board, all solenoids, pump-motor etc would get you a quote higher than $3000 and most likely a "More than 66% of a brand new, better machine". Ie. you don't spend $12000 to repair a 1988 Honda Civic. You buy a new one.
