My 3 year old Evoluzione has a problem? Its been plumbed in to our whole house softener system since new. Its on a timer to come on at 7am and off at 9pm. I draw 4-6 espresso a day and backflush almost daily. Monthly I do a really good cleaning with citric acid or Joes cleaner.
I came down today at 8 - machines on but no pressure, and no heat? I pull lever it works and pumps cold water..Turn on and off and I can hear the value turning on at least a click but no heat builds?
Thoughts? I'm reading it might be an electric swicth? I'm thinking it might be the heating element? Rather not take it in for service if its a quick $5 part. I have machine appart already, no worries with medoing work if I knwo whats wrong with it?

Much like another thread active now in which their machine isn't heating, there is a over temp safety switch on the machine, there is a red button on the over temp safety switch. It is there to stop the heater if the machine gets too hot. Yours may or may not have got too hot but the first place to check is the over temp safety. It looks like this, part -23. it is in the center of the diagram http://biobug.org/coffee/giotto/diags/boiler-parts.jpg
This is the first place to check. If resetting it does not help then you will need to do a more through troubleshooting.
