Just got my Cuadra today and have tried my first couple of shots.
A couple of problems:
The water coming out of both steam and hot water wands has a funny smell. Almost like paint. Is this because the machine is new? I'm using fridge filtered water. Is there anything I can do about it?
Coffee not coming out: when I pull the shot, very and I mean very little coffee comes out. Could this be because I'm using too much pressure with the tamper? I tried to reduce it and more coffee came out. So just wondering if this just about be learning how much pressure to use.

No help here with the smell...other than maybe let a small amount of water from the wand cool and take a taste to see if it's ok?...but you might want to wait for others to chime in
Tamp pressure should be the same (about 30# is typically taught) regardless - always! You're probably grinding too fine. Back off slowly (ie, go slightly coarser) until it flows like you see in videos (the ones that supposedly show properly prepared shots). You should get about 1.5-2 oz in about 30 seconds for a double.

Mine had that smell to for awhile until I ran some water through it. With a warm machine and no coffee in portafilter run some water through it. What grinder are you using? I would increase the grind size incrementally. I was making good espresso right away and now its great espresso. Where did you but it?
