Subject: Need help with Rancilio S27 OPV

Hi guys/girls,

This is my first post and i need some help with my machine.

I own a Rancilio S27 that has been serviced. I bought a portafilter gauge to measure brew head pressure and it measured 7 bar. I tried to increase the pressure by tightening the screw on the OPV and it went up to 8 bar. When i try to increase further, they pressure would drop to 5bars and the sound of the motor would sound different (less rumble) with a squeaky noise. It seems like the maximum pressure i can go to is 8 bar. any slight adjustment and it would drop back to 5 bars.

Anyone out there with similar problems or solution? I guess i can live with 8 bars but it's just one of those things i need to solve if not i wouldnt be able to sleep peacefully =). Thanks guys/girls!

Your pump is possibly on its last legs. It is no longer able to produce flow at pressures higher than 8 bar and stalls (Vibrates slightly with no output).

Could it be a faulty OPV instead? It works perfectly fine @ 8 bars
