I have a Delonghi Magnifica EAM3400 that I got broken from someone on craigslist... a bit of tinkering and I have had it working pretty well now for about 2 weeks until this morning.
The machine refuses to rinse itself like it usually does when I turn it on, and refused to rinse when I shut it off. It even refuses to rinse when I push the rinse button. Delonghis have what they call an "infuser" instead of the normal brew group or brew unit. I can hear the infuser raise itself up inside the machine and push itself into the tamper, which then it usually pulses the water pump to perform a pre-rinse before it's ready to brew it's first shot. This morning, it pushed the infuser up into the tamper, but then no rinse ever happened. The pump never even activated. After that, it brought the infuser back down to it's park position, and then the screen told me to "Insert the infuser" even though it's already in there and clicked in properly.
I've tried everything... I've taken the infuser out, I've rinsed it well with hot water, and I've cleaned the inside of the machine really well just in case coffee grounds had jammed something up. I'm at my whit's end... I love this machine and I really want to get it going again!
