Subject: Nouva Simonelli Oscar upgrade question

Hello I own a NS Oscar and would like to know if a External timer can be hooked up to allow auto-on, so when I wake up machine is already warmed up. Has anyone hooked up external timer to Oscar.

I like the monster steam the Oscar produces heats my milk in 25 seconds.

Are there any Heat exchanger systems out there with built in timers? I would love to have one.

Respectfully,
James, Ret, USN

I use my NS Oscar on a timer and it works quite well.  Haven't had any problems at all with it.

Mine is stock, so to make sure dry air is vented automatically during warmup I open the steam valve while hot just enough to start getting a tiny amount of steam then turn it back until it is just closed.  Leave it at that valve setting setting when warming up, and in my experience the cool seals will shrink when cool and swell to closed when hot.  This allows the boiler to breathe just a little bit as the machine cools overnight and heats up the next morning.

I have the timer set for 40 minutes before I want my shots.  Then I just walk into the kitchen, purge the steam wand and start my prep.  By the time my beans are dose ready I flush the HX for 10 seconds, wait 4 seconds and then do a pull.  Works really easy.

Mine is on a timer.  You have to install a vacuum breaker.  See the link in my sig file.
