Subject: Gaggia Platinum Vision---"Restart to solve the problem."

I have been dealing with this issue for a while....    I have a Gaggia Platinum Vision---each morning I would wake to "Restart to solve the problem."

Originally, if I turned it on/off it would work again.  But over time--- even that stopped working.   When it did not fix it, the screen would flash white then dark over and over again.   Occasionally after trying a few times I would get it to a working ---but sometimes it would default back to Italian.   A repair shop suggested it was the Power Board---and was most likely a the part that is on the heat sync.  It is a Triac.  My father is a electrical trouble shooter and I managed to track down the replacement part (Triac).  I replaced it with Thermal Paste.   100% sure that was done correctly--- but I still have the problem.

Any ideas what it is?   I am Willing to buy a whole new Power Board---if I can confirm it is the power board.   They are not returnable.

I hate to have to send it out for repairs.... I can do the repair myself---if I can figure out that is broken.

The big problem with super-automatics is exactly this type of thing. I had a Gaggia Synchrony Digital. Worked great for three years, iffy for a couple, then just started doing weird stuff. Sometimes restarting got it going, sometimes not, when the ratio shifting gradually towards more "not." I, too, was told it was a faulty control board. Shelled out for a new control board. No dice—the machine simply couldn't be fixed.
