I am really struggling with the Silvano to get good steam.  I think I'd like to try and replace the single hole with a double or four hole.  But no one lists replacement tips for Quickmill. Anyone do this yet?   I have a new machine 12/2013.  I think its a 9mm screw tip.   But I'm sure someone has found a replacement or upgrade.

thanks
Lou

More holes = less steam pressure
What I want to know is can a no burn wand having 1 hole fit? To make clean up easier.
My tip was plugged half way before and I could make nice microfoam but after cleaning it really well I have more power and
I cannot get the hang of it.  Maybe another hole would slow it down for me but I would like to learn how to do it right.

I have a Silvano that I just picked up and have been having very good progress with the stock steam wand.

I have a small frothing pitcher (RW 12oz) and after some playing have found that the best results I get are from keeping the tip just under the surface and to the side (not touching).  Because the pitcher is quite small I find that I don't have to submerge the wand deep to get the milk up to ~50*C.  When I get a good 'tearing' sound I find that by the time I get the pitcher up to temp (thermometer and by touch) the stretching is done and the temp is right and it is good to go!  I'm still working on consistency but it is getting much better... I also find 2% works very well... 2% with a touch of cream (18%) works very well... I don't by homogenized milk but will get some to try...

Hope this helps!

:)

I spent a while using a drop of soap in the pitcher with water.  I think i finally got it.
Streching the milk for only a few seconds (5 sec or 10-20% stretch) and the just making the whirlpool.
The tilting of the pitcher is key.  The right angle is key.
I still don't get perfect micro foam but good enough for pretty designs.
