This isn't uncommon. Anytime a machine gets reviewed on HB you tend to see the price increase due to buyer interest and supply of the machines. That ECM is now also carried by Whole Latte Love. Sign up for their newsletter and you get an instant coupon.
As has already been mentioned, contact them (1st Line and WLL), preferably by phone as it comes across as being more of a serious buyer. You just might get that original price. The US/Euro exchange rate hasn't changed enough to see a price increase anywhere close to $400, so IMO the price increase is just fluff.
If you don't like that price, there are many other great HX machines for much less.
Like this one for $1698. Only you can decide if the ECM is worth $700 MORE.
