Subject: Vibiemme Domobar Junior - Steam problem solved, but what on earth is this?

The steam flow problem I had has been solved. It appears it was a foreign body in the o-ring of the steam tip. It was a small hook like piece of rubber (salmon pink in colour). It fit so snugly I thought it was part of the ring. Now removed my milk steams okay. My concern is that this piece of rubber has dislodged from further up the steam pathway. Possibly something like a eroding seal or something. Does anybody have an idea whether the Vibiemme has any salmon pink rubber seals, associated with the steam arm? I cant imagine it found itself there from the outside. Should I be looking for anything symptoms wise, and can I check anything to make sure I don't have a problem further up? I have a pic of the foreign body in situ., but it's too big to upload. I could forward it to anyone who thinks they could diagnose the critter. Any help warmly received :-)

The only reddish silicone part in the steam/hot water valves is the closing gasket
which comes in three different types
red silicone
white silicone
and white hard teflon

Stefan and Craig thank you for coming back so quick. I've checked images of red silicone and it looks very similar. I will try and resize the photograph tomorrow, it's late here. It will probably take me all day to figure the software out!....what's the ideal size for the forum attachments? Thanks again fellas. Speak soon.

Darren,
The max file size is one pic (jpg, gif) of 75kb.

It confused me a bit too the first time I saw & tried it out. You just have to play around with it to see how it all works. {;-)

Cheers!
