Subject: Avanti MiniBar espresso machine

Many years ago my wife bought one of these machines with a failed pump. She had it rebuilt but the reconditioned unit made a buzzing she couldn't abide and she banished it beneath the counter for more than a decade. Its a weighty little contrivance that seems well made but the dearth of youtube videos concerning operations tells me they never sold well. Add to that the fact that everyone seems to have acquired theirs broken, and I've adjusting expectations concerning build quality...

That said, its mine and it works so I'm viewing this as a boon. However it did not come with a manual and its sat in exile so long no one recalls how it operates. It is complete except for the drip tray which I'll replace with a sponge... should I discover where the water goes.

1) Does anyone have a operations pdf for these machines?

2) Does anyone have one of these in use? If so, does the pump seem loud? I seem to recall factory parts were unavailable and the tech made substitutions. I'm wondering if his haste to return the machine saddled us with subpar results.

Thank you all... j

Have a look at http://coffeegeek.com/forums/espresso/machines/84933 for usage instructions and a possible copy of the manual.

I don't have one of these machines. But it's possible that the noise problem is due to the pump vibrating against the case or some other part of the machine. Open up the machine and have a look at what it's touching. Be sure to examine how the pump is mounted to the case. Some rubber washers or pads strategically placed would dampen those vibrations.
