Has anyone heard of Profitec? An E-61 dual boiler is now being imported into Canada.
I haven't heard of this brand of machine before.

No I have not but "I drink coffee" says they are importers to Germany of Italian machines so it is not unusual that N.A. may not have heard of them.
It looks to be a pretty standard machine. I strongly suspect it is made with off the shelf parts as most machines are. It uses SS for the boilers which in my humble opinion is not a negative nor is it a plus, it simply was the metal they chose to use over brass. They are happy with their choice and give their reasons why.

It has a PID that changes display when brewing to a shot timer, a nice feature if you are into that sort of thing. The price seems to be pretty good too.

DB is one of two main designs to brew espresso in higher end machines, it is neither better than HX or worse, simply it is a different means to the same end.

Only personal preferences can determine if it is the right design for you.

The company had a booth at the HOST trade show in Milan last October. Nice machine. It seems like same ownership as ECM Manufacture in Germany.

That looks like a really nice machine, I like it. Good price too considering Canada is generally higher priced on imports. Wonder what that would cost if brought here to the states? I really like the display switching from temp to shot timer, that's how the CC1 does it and that little feature is priceless.

I saw that post at idrinkcoffee.com as well.  I can't find much on the internet beside this AU company Jet Black Espresso posted a video about the machine.

This Profitec 700 seems to have similarly spec'ed machine as the Rocket R58 v2... wish there are more reviews or info on this.

Here is a review from a German forum:

Also says it's owned by ECM (the Heidelberg one I presume).  The family resemblance is really undeniable.  I gotta say I like this integration of the PID display much better than the R58 one though.

Well that's a first, never seen anyone steam milk like that lol, starting the steam then just leaving it be steaming on the tray while grinding and pulling a shot, and looked like it actually worked. Really like this machines looks and the PID looks better then the others that look like they just slapped the PID on the casing like an after thought, love how it switches to timing when brewing, I didn't think of that feature much when I got the CC1 but it ends up being way more convenient then using a phone or other timer.

Surprised nobody is really talking about this, really nice machine in the DB class and at a great price point. If this had been a Rocket or something else we'd already have a 6 page thread lol. Read some of the German reviews translated, but a little confusing as Google translate doesn't work 100% lol

Yes, I thought it was intriguing at this price point. But hadn't heard of the brand before. I imagine ECM ownership should guarantee top notch build quality. I'm still saving for a solid machine. But going to skip SBDU entirely and get something(eventually) more robust that will last and won't inspire upgraditis in a matter of weeks.
