Espresso: Wega Mini Nova

Subject: Wega Mini Nova Not Working :(

Hey everyone I have some updates on my machine. I recently cleaned it just a general wipe down, filled the reservoir and turned it on. After about 5 minutes I tried to dispense hot water, it vibrated and hot water came out. I then turned the knob for steam and a steady, continuous cloud of steam came out as well. I then tried to press the single cup button to dispense hot water through the porta filter. Annnnnd nothing happened. No sounds, no ticks, no water.

I contacted a local espresso machine repair man but he is so backed up he could only look at my machine for a minute. We checked the silonode valve that is suppose to click on to let the water through and determined it was good. He also set me the maintenance manual from WEGA and said he thinks it is faulty wiring from the buttons to the black box mother board, a fuse in the mother board or the motherboard its self. He services a ton of other appliances so that's as far as he could get me.

So now i'm turning to you guys here on the forum to see if you can help me narrow down what my problem is with this machine and how to go about fixing it. I can provide pictures or more information, but basically I get hot water and steam but nothing through the main dispenser (not sure what you would call it) where you attach the porta filter.

Thanks CG!

Sounds to me like the three way valve at the bottom of the group is bad. That was the case with mine. Right now the boiler will not heat on mine.

I have sortof the same problem with my Wega. I don't know if my controller board is bad, or is just not connected right.

Do you have a manual with a schematic that actually matches your machine? This is something I have not been able to find.

I guess the thing to do is take a multi meter and test to see if you are getting power sent to the input on the controller board. I think on mine, the output from the switch is green. And a neutral wire that goes to the controller is white. With the switch on, check for current through both wires.

The easiest thing to check is whether the cable connection to the keypad is secure. Sometimes they can vibrate loose if a machine is moved multiple times.
