When running water through the group either with coffee or not,  temperature drops drastically even after I have ended the shot. Temperature will drop all the way to 165 before recovering. This only happens when the steam boiler is turned off. When it is on, temperature of the shot doesn't drop . Any Ideas?

In the absence of any further information, I would have to say your PID settings might be incorrect and you should check them

Thanks Dave. I checked the settings. The brew temp was set at 202*. With the steam boiler turned off, The PID gauge  indicates the temp dropping to about 194* during the shot. When I end the shot, the temp on the guage continues to drop until it starts to recover after reaching 165-170.  As I said before, this is only when the steam boiler is off.

I should also say, this happoened  a few months ago, and it magically corrected itself after a week or so.

I believe Dave is referring to the actual P setting, I setting, D setting. If it happened before and corrected itself that's probably not the case. Possibly a loose connection somewhere. You might check the various connectors (main controller, SSR, whatever you find inside) to be sure they are pressed in solidly.
