Subject: My Gaggia Classic won't work

I recently installed a new steam valve and steam thermostat after experiencing problems with coffee gushing from the portafilter. That solved the problem and I was getting wonderful espressos. But then I discovered that my milk wasn't heating up for lattes. So I replaced the brew thermostat that I had also ordered and the gushing problem happened again. I quickly exchanged the new brew thermostat with the original one and tried steaming. The machine made a horrible loud noise and now it's not working at all anymore. My assumption is the new brew thermostat I ordered from partsguru was the wrong one (Coffee thermostat - DM-1168 - Gaggia Coffee Thermostat threaded M4 120V) and caused the thermal fuse to blow. I would greatly appreciate your advice. Do I need to order a thermal fuse? Did I order the wrong brew thermostat? I live in Mexico, so taking the machine to a repair shop isn't an option.

Yes I know your pain, the two thermostats basiclly look the same. I would check the steam switch and make sure it fuctions correctly. I would check the bolier water temp to make sure temp wise it matched pressure. It almost sound as if the two thermostats are in the wrong spots. I dont know how to tell them apart. Also make sure they are seated correctly.

Thanks, Steamer, but I can't turn on the machine. Nothing lights up.
