East Coast, Coming to Tulsa, Gotta love that!!
I'm from Jersey but I've lived in Tulsa now for about 7yrs.  I usually only look in Alt.coffee for coffee related discussion and info and this is the first time I've glanced at the discussion group on this site.  Anyways, It must be your luck day as I have the info you are looking for.  There is only one place and one place only(that is until i get my own shop)for good stuff.  That place is Nordaggios coffee and they are located in a shopping center at the corner of 81st and Lewis.  They are serving the real deal.  I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
Good Luck,
Bobby

Absolutely!...When I lived in NW Arkansas I would drive to Tulsa just for their espresso...Its where I was first inspired and itroduced to what "good" coffee could be. Highly recommended!

I am in full agreement.  Nordaggio's has the best coffee in Oklahoma.  They use a three group La Marzocco and a La Marzocco Swift (a revolutionary grinder that grinds, using ceramic burrs to prevent heat damage to the espresso, and tamps at levels to provide the perfect shot).  Each barista uses correct steaming techniques and all pour beautiful latte art.  They use Caffe Vita's Caffe Del Sol espresso blend. It is superb.  The owner provides distribution for the beans that we use where I work in Texas.  They will also be providing distribtion for the La Marzocco machines we will be using.  Anyways, Nordaggio's is sadly the only choice for coffee in Oklahoma, but it is exceptional!

There's plenty of great independent coffee houses in Oklahoma and people who believe otherwise just havn't been around much.  In Tulsa, Nordaggio's does a good job, and so does Mecca, Coffee Grinder, Gypsy, and Merritts Bakery.  Ashley Grace is a very nice shop in Bartlesville.

In OKC, try Uncommon Grounds, Java Joint, Cafe Plaid, Wholly Grounds, Cafe Bella, The Buzz, or Red Cup.

Oklahoma is very fortunate not to have as many chains as most states.  Most of our independents do a better job of brewing and run friendlier stores than chains.

I hope you enjoy exploring some of these stores.

I originally left out Cafe Cubana due to their quality was so so.  This has changed recently as i have went back, only to be pleasantly surprised.  They have shortened the shot and upgraded the machine to a 3 group La Marzocco and they now are serving better quality drinks.

Forget the rest.

On a business trip to Tulsa, I was fortunate enough to arrive on opening day at the Double Shot Coffee Company in Tulsa.  They have a brilliantly restored and polished 1950's era Vittoria 30 pound gas fired Roaster from Bologna, Italy in the center of the establishment which is where they roast their coffee.  All coffee served on the premises is roasted in house and fresh.  In the two days I've been here, the Monsooned Malabar, Sumatra mandheling, and Ethiopian Harrar were perfectly roasted to enhance their specific varietal characteristics.  The Harrar was not too acidic and the Malabar was not too overpowering.

The owner and baristas take their art seriously and are serious about coffee as an art.  The baristas were working hard to compensate for the humidity the first day I was there - how many places care that much?

The Double Shot Coffee Company is at 18th & Boston in Tulsa, and I am sadly flying back to DC today.......

I agree with Tikkun.  Although Doubleshot has only been open for three days, they have surpassed all coffee shops in the Tulsa area.  I was an avid customer of Cafe Cabana and when in south tulsa, Nordaggio's.  But since last Friday I cannot go back to the inferior beans of these coffee shops.  The beans cannot get any fresher than what Brian offers at Doubleshot.  I can't urge all coffee drinkers to try Doubleshot, you will not be dissapointed.

I just got back from Tusla earlier this week and I concur.  The top 3 are Nordaggios, Cafe Cubana, and Double Shot.

I stopped in Nordaggios where Amy made me a macchioto and a latte.  She did a great job!  I had some Kenya drip that was pretty good as well.

I hit double shot and got a double ristretto.  Jason poured 3 or 4 before he would pass the cup, gotta love that!  The coffee had some things I really liked.  We tweaked his Marzocco a little bit and I hope the results were positive.  Brian, the roaster, has some really beautiful green coffee and I think that he is on that quest for excellence.  Tried some drip as well and I think there is some room for improvement, but my hunch is that is has more to do with equipment than coffee.

I didn't make Cafe Cubana this trip (running late to the airport), but my last experience with them was a good one.  James told me that the upgrade to the Marzocco and Conico grinder have made a huge difference in the flavor and the comment from B. Ellis is evidence.  Nice work and go Devils!  When is Stevens gettting back anyway?
