You mean like this? I used to notice that the crema striping sometimes would appear to twist out of the portafilter. I wonder if a jet like that (at a tangent angle) could induce twisting...

Usually when you see that, it means that chanelling is occurring.  By altering your tamp, you should be able to prevent it for the most part.  Anyways, looks great.

Tell me about it! I thought I was pretty meticulous about tamping before, but the first couple of shots were eye openers. Turns out my tamping was *slightly* off level and the handle side was thicker than the non-handle side. It looks like the espresso begins on the "short side" of the puck then evens out as the infusion progresses. No jetting during this shot.

Now I'm absolutely anal about tamping! Shots are getting better now.

Hi Noll,

I'm planning to drill out my PF soon. Any recommendations on diameter?

Also, will I be able to use the ridgeless double basket (Ridgeless La Marzocco Double Portafilter Basket - MZ_107A at click here as well as the triple basket?

I guess I will then be able to use a standard (58) RB tamper too.

Thanks!
