I am not sure if this has already been posted, but the Expobar Brewtus has been listed on WLL. E-61, double boiler, PID. I have seen mention of this machine before, but it is now out! Someone is gonna have to get this thing and let us know all about it!

-Andrew

Edit: I have misspelled the machines name!!! Brewtus!

Wow!  This looks like they put everything that a coffeegeek would want in one machine - EXCEPT that it is pretty pricey.  There are a lot of fine machines from which to choose at $1500!

Thanks for the tip.

As far as I have seen, this is the best deal available on a serious double-boiler PID controlled machine.  The S1 is about $1800...

Brewtus looks pretty freakin' awesome if you ask me!!!

Well, stuff like the PID controller is a "geek" feature, i.e. it would NEVER be used by that crotchetty old barkeep in Italy.

Also, what is the advantage of a double boiler?

Yes, we know all about the crotchety old Italian barkeep....

Sweet machine.  It seems there is going to be some heavy competition between vendors and their somewhat exclusive manufacturer: The vendor for "pushing" design changes to the manufacturers, and the manufacturers for addressing them.  If Chris and Andreja answer, maybe we'll see a price drop to push buyers in their direction? :-)

w/a double boiler, you can set the brew to an exact temp, and the steam to an exact temp

It seems they have not yet gotten specs for the boiler sizes and what not up on the site. I am curious, because it is an internal resevoir machine, and it all seems to be squeezed into the Exp. Lever housing. How big could these boilers be? It's too early to say, but my engineering background has taught me that there are always tradeoffs!
