Does anyone know if a 58mm Faema commercial filter handle will fit a Silvia?

Thanks,

Phil

Well, if what I bought off of ebay was a faema filter, which I was told that it is, no, not withougt modification.
The distance between the top of the portafilter and the bottom of the lug is too great, and needs to be filed down.  I was able to make mine work in about an hour with a file, but it doesn't look pretty.  Since it spends most of it's time in the machine, I really don't care.

Hi Terry,

I don't know the Model of the Faema.  The Filter was offered on e-bay and the claim was that it came off a Faema and was a commercial filter.  It sort of looked like the filter on our Rio at work.   I was looking at it with the eye of maching off the bottom and having a bottomless filter to use at work.

After the responses I got on the forum (Loring's Rio rebuild string) and checking with the people who repair our machine I just let it go by the way.  If I had seen Chris's response I may have had the nerve to buy it and get out the file if necessary.

I did buy a filter which is claimed to have come off a Rancilio.  If all goes well Miss Silvia will have a bottomless filter.

Phil
