Posted Fri Dec 24, 2004, 10:34pm Subject: procon pump adjustment?
I have procon pump installed on an non coffe related Instrument and I found you guys have a lot of experience with procon pumps here. DI water flow rate on our instrument was about 5 l/min about a year ago when instrument started to work. But now it is droped to 4 l/min and below 4 instrument automatically shuts down because of the danger to X-ray tube. Now I found a little screw on the pump which says here http://www.proconpumps.com/exploded.htm is for adjusting presure. 5 l/min water running presure is 6 bar but when I bypass x-ray tube it goes up to 5.3 l/min which shows x-ray tube cause some presure drop which is normal because it has a nozzel for cooling tube. I tried to adjust presure with the hope of increasing presure and increasing flow rate to at least 4.8 l/min but that scree didn't made any difference on the flow rate. Am I doing anything wrong or should I turn screw all the way down or up ? Or shoudl I replace the pump?
Is there any chance of repairing pump myself?
Marry Christmas and have a very happy new year to all.

If the pump is old it might be time for a new one (I can sell one!!!) but I am more interested in what type of motor you are using. Could you tell me the horse power and voltage?

I have followed troubleshooting procedure.
About inlet clog noting clogged
pump is rotating in the right direction 3.about low rpm I can't check but seems rpm depends on HZ and since same motor and same frequency rpm shouldn't be the problem. 4.Wearing out of internal part should be the only problem so far which needs pump replacement. There were DI water inside and no reason for wearing out but I should say pup was sitting for 7 years and just last year instrument start operation. In this 7 years there is posibility of rust which may caused wearing pump parts. Anyone knows normal lifetime of these pumps before need for the first rebuilt?
About Relief valve setting I don't know about this but I took it out and it was OK. Put back and played with the screw in both anti clock wise and clock wise but no chnage in flow rate.
@ Mikey
Motor is 1400/1680 rev/min, 0.095/0.115 kw, gos=0.78/0.98, 230v, 1.0/0.82A, Elektromotoren Werke Kaiser, type EN\71 B/4C
These are all written on the motor.
Pump has no Internal strainer so should be series 2 or 3. sucks DI water from a small container and delivers to X-ray tube and back to container in closed loop. Fine filter and conductivity sensor inside container.
What is the price for one series 2 or 3 pump (Brand new)?
