Okay admittedly I have yet to pull a shot. I'm more like the cheering section at this point. But I just had to say some more about this machine.

I guess it would be nice to get a few minor negatives out of the way. It is a bit of a drag to refill the tank as often as needed. Turns out that pulling a blank shot and doing the proper post brew flush,  pf wiggle etc. tends to use water. We are looking into possible solutions...including direct plumb, direct plumb via tank float or auxillary tank siphoning etc. Good thing the Relax has a generous drip tray.

So here's the biggy. My wife is a total convert. All along I've been asking "was it better than Starbucks"? Steadily the answer has been yes. But today was down right funny. Where she would rarely pass up a Starbucks latte....she did today. She said she is definitely making better drinks than those at *$s.  This is very satifying to hear!  I told her...wait to the folks at Coffee Geek hear this! She's got a great attitude...still wants to practice with some of the grocery store coffee but is already in the zone when it comes to pulling some consistent shots. She said her latte this morning was so good...she described it as "sorry when it was all gone because it was so yummy good!"   :)

We did stare at the machine together this evening...as we have at other moments...feeling like dorks! I would have to say that I understand the phenomenon of upgrade fever...as it is so exciting to have a new machine. I actually find myself looking at other machines...but ya know...it would indeed be pretty hard to beat this machine at the price paid imho.

Thanks to everyone here at this forum who helped with all the questions that got us going. We are indeed happy with the new edition to the kitchen!

Cheers!

Kevin

Wow, that sounds like CG heaven:  you call the shots, and she pulls them! ;-)

Next step:  get a roaster and really start going through beans!

I'm glad you guys are doing so dang well!  It's great to hear that the missus is already getting the basics down, and it sounds like it's time to get the GOOD beans.

As for the water deal, I sent you a message about trying to arrange things to make filling easier.  I've seen where some folks keep the machine on a vinyl cutting board so it's easy to slide in and out.

Another thing you can do to make life easier is to adjust the low level sensor.  The button is held in with two nuts (one above and one below the steel tray).  If you loosen the nuts you can adjust the position of the button so that it sits higher and the reservoir will not need as much water to activate the switch.  Then tighten the nuts again.  I have mine set so that it will turn on with just about 20 ounces of water.

Handcannon, thanks for the kind words and help in the other thread about the filter. I call the shots and she pulls em..hm. You know...I have even managed to taste the product a few times just to see what the fuss is all about!  :)

Hey Jon, appreciate the advice about the adjustment. Your advice has me suspicious that my original fix of the sensor mechanism is not complete. I never secured the metal cylindrical shaft via the nuts. I just slid it back into place and clamped the electrical switch on underneath. It's just sitting in there...so I may have to order up a new part? Actually I'm not sure at what point the machine is turning off...but it did it to us in the middle of pulling a shot a few days ago. We added water and were back in business. I think the water level was about half way down? Not sure.

As for the water supply issue. I may just try getting a larger slim styled container from Walmart as an older thread suggested and then just running the pick up lines into that container. Or setting up for a siphoning situation where we fill the external container as we see the level drop. Part of the problem is you can't see the level in the tank. It's like building a better mouse trap. At some point we will have the problem solved...no stress...it will happen. Tomorrow I will take the cover off of the machine to see what I can do about adjusting the water sensor.

Good Evening to All.
