I was hoping someone could give me some pointers on getting a good microfroth from my Bezzera (same as Livia) 4 hole steam wand.  I was able to produce microfroth consistently with my old 3 hole Rancilio Rialto, but now it seems I'm back to the drawing board with this new machine.  I've read somewhere that it helps to change the tip(4 hole) to something with less holes(2 hole). Does anyone know where these tips are available?

thanks,
Chris

Chris,
had the same problem, the Bezzera BZ99 really puts out the steam, I replaced the 4 hole tip with a Giotto (spelling) 2 hole tip, will dig out where I purchased it and get back to you, the microfoam it will produce is great. I also tried putting a small stainless steel ball bearing inside the tip until I could find the Giotto tip and that helped a lot. You will find once you master the 2 hole tip it is very easy to go back and use the 4 hole tip with no problem, it's all a learning curve

if i can be of any help just e-mail

Chris,

Found the info on the Giotto tip, purchased from Cafe Union (www.cafe-union.com)
Price $10 + ship US from Montreal
This is a must have for microfoam on the BZ99
There is a lot of threads on the alt.coffee site about this steaming tip, if you want to check them out go to www.google.com than hit "groups" on that page hit "alt." on that page hit "next 50 groups til  you get to alt.coffee, now hit that and you are on your way. When you get to alt.coffee type in Giotto tip at the top of the page and check "search only in alt.coffee" than hit "google search"

hope this helps

Tom,

Thanks for the info. on the giotto tip, and Union Cafe, that's great news seeing how I'm only an hour or so drive from Montreal. I see a road trip in the very near future.

Thanks again,
Chris

I also have the same problem. I was looking at getting a new tip from WLL however, they state they have a 4 hole tip. I presume there is definitely the two versions and I should try to track down the 2 hole tip right? Thanks for any help.

Try ChrisCoffee for both the giotto, and new 2 hole steam tips. I happen to own both tips, and find that they both work excellent for creating a great microfroth.
