OK, I've got lots of different cups over the years but now I'm looking for some nice very plain 8 or 8.5oz cups.  Here are my criteria:
  1. Thick and heavy.
  2. Bowl shaped and low profile--wider than tall.
  3. Solid color on the outside (preferably not white, black or brown), and white on the inside.
I've looked a lot at different stores and on the internet and have not found anything.

49th Parallel has some beauties. I know they aren't plain outside, but they are very nice cups (I bought a pair and I love them - photo at bottom of post). The 49th Parallel Blue Latte Giftset - Includes two cappuccino cups and saucers in a giftbox - 9 oz. capacity - 50mL line - $28 for a set.

They're made by Inker Porcelain in Croatia. I read over at home-barista.com that the 49th Parallel cups are from the Luna collection and are Color #108.

ACF makes nice 10 oz cups. Great Infusions has them in a range of colors.

-------------------

espressoparts.com has Cremaware 8oz cups in black, brown and white.

-------------------

precisiontamp.com has these. They look decent. Brown outside only though.

I know you are looking for plain cups, but perhaps you and others might like to see some really beautiful Deruta ceramic cups for their morning cappuccini.  I love my "Raffaellesco"  and "Ricco Deruta", two of the oldest patterns.

Thanks for all the replys.  I guess there aren't any cups fitting my criteria out there.  I had seen the 8oz cremaware on the internet, and they are the closest, but I'd rather have some color.   I'll keep looking.

Orphan Espresso has the Inker Luna cups, but only in white, black and brown. If you can live with the color they are very nice cups. They're very similar to Lina, which has a different handle.

Orphan Espresso is a distributor for Inker Porcelain, and they say they will special order for you if you want. They have the catalog online at their site. Lots of colors and cup designs available.

Hmm... I'm thinking group-buy! I could use a few more Luna 2-517 cups.

Vince Piccolo, founder of Caffe Artigiano, now has a new flagship coffee bar bearing the name of his roastery, 49th Parallel. The new store on 4th Avenue in Vancouver features, in addition to its espresso bar, all fresh brewed, personalized coffee extractions utilizing either a Swiss Gold pour-over or a Clover.

With regard to espresso style, cups and culture, Piccolo told us, "We try to be as authentic as we can--a cappuccino is served in no bigger than a 6-oz cup. A latte to stay is served in a 9-oz cup. To go, a latte is served in a 10-oz cup. We do have a large latte cup available but it's not a popular drink option." Piccolo expanded, "We use Inker cups, which are porcelain out of Croatia. I find it's a really high quality cup. Some Italian cups are way too thick, and some German and French porcelain tends to be way too thin, but these are just right."
