the dimensions of the basket are 62 mm to outside edge; 52 mm inside dimension (tamper size). It can have vertical sides but would need to bevel in before 23 mm deep. Does this match anyone's current basket so I could buy a replacement?

I'm sure you've found a solution by now, but in case somebody else has the question someday I thought I'd throw in that I bought a 53 mm Saeco basket and filed the inner diameter of the portafilter so that it would fit. It's soft aluminum and I used a half-round file with the portafilter ring in a vice. I took the plastic part of the handle off the aluminum ring that holds the basket, so now I have a naked portafilter or I can screw the handle back into place if making two cups of espresso to use the separator feature.
Looking back, if I had purchased the correct width basket (~51 mm) I wouldn't have had to do so much filing. Converting it into a naked portafilter is pretty neat to watch and I've been able to tweak problems with uneven distribution more effectively to get that all-around "tiger's eye" look when it starts coming out.
If you want to see a picture of how it looks now, let me know.
