I just bought one of these machines. I haven't received it yet, but I'm looking around and I can't find any parts for it. Does any of the Oscar parts fit this machine? Like the portafilters and such? I read somewhere that they're supposed to, but read in another place that they don't. If I want a bottomless PF, this might be very difficult to find.

I am not sure about interchangeability of PFs but if it is a naked you are worried about, it is an easy conversion to make to a stock PF. It is easiest with a drill press and a hole saw but more crude methods have been used and work too.

The Elli should be a good machine, and if it is the one from the BST forum, it was a good buy too. The styling is a little more boxy than the Oscar but the foundation is solid.

Enjoy!

I read somewhere that I can take a bottomless PF and grind down the ears so it'll fit in the Elli. I hope that's the case, 'cause grinding down the ears is easier than trying to find a Elli PF and cutting the bottom off.

Also, I would think, given the amount of various bottomless PFs at 1st-line, that one of them should fit. They fit almost all other espresso machines. Maybe there's another brand machine that is identical to the Elli?

your best bet is probably to call NS USA. They are very helpful with parts. They could probably sell you a stock pf you could cut yourself. Or advise if other models fit it.

Yeah they have a couple.

But then I have to figure out how to get the bottom cut off of it. I can't just go to Home Depot and get it done or something.

I went to a machine shop, they charged me 35 bucks. I believe they milled it out and turned the bottom into scraps.  (I asked where it was)

Yeah, we don't have machine shops around here that'll do that.

I guess I could just take the spout off and it'll be sorta like bottomless. The problem is that the PF is supposedly very shallow, so it won't fit my bigger baskets. I think the most the double basket will take is 18 grams of coffee, but I currently use 20 grams in my double shots.

Seattle Coffee Gear has a bottomless Nuova Simonelli PF for $125. Not sure if this is for the newer Oscar and Musica, of if it can also fit older machines like the Ellimatic. I sent them an e-mail asking about it. Let's wait and see what happens.

Geez, I didn't notice this thing has a pathetically small drip tray. That ruins things a bit. I wonder if it can be modified with a drain.

I use a 60mm hole saw bit and a drill press. I'm pretty sure that's what everyone else uses too. (EPNW, etc.)
