Charlie, let me try to explain a point. Coming from the VLSI (chip business) for communication and processor business I have been using a lot reports of the sort you are looking for. there are many research companies that compile such reports. one of them is IDC for example. those reports are usually comprehensive and do not come cheap to produce. a copy usually sales for about $5K. Still a fairly large community of users is required to justify compilation of such report. I guess that in the coffee machine industry there are not so many manufacturers (which are the natural customers of such report) to justify the expense.

greattemper, basically you're right. I know that pro industry reports cost money, and excessive in-depth reports cost big money. agree that such report is necessary when looking for market trends, shares, segmentation etc. and it depends on market size, number & size of players etc. that's not my case. I'm merely asking a laymans question.
