Grams to teaspoons!?
Q: "How many inches in a minute?" A: It depends. What day is it, and what size pants do you wear?"
But seriously, weighing the mass of the coffee is the only way for consistency. It really doesn't matter how much space it takes up. Some grinders create a dense mass of grounds and other a very fluffy mass.
LOL - that does sound silly, but if someone asked:
"How many miles in an hour?"
this is less far-fetched. Like the tablespoons to grams, miles in an hour depends on another variable which determines the answer.
That's why, on average, ground coffee ranges from .25 g/cc to maybe .48 g/cc, with a probable average of 0.33g/cc, and roughly bounds the answer of grams to tablespoons. (between 4 and 8g, average 5g)
On average over a long trip, most people are going to range between 50 and 70 miles per hour...
You are absolutely spot on, though. Just measure your brewing parameters in mass and be done with it.
