Posted Fri Dec 28, 2012, 2:42pm Subject: Too much crema for my cup?
I have a (to me) interesting situation. I used my Christmas bonus to upgrade from the SmartGrinder to a Vario-W. It came today, and I burned through a number of shots getting it dialed in. My final shot gave me 31g coffee from 18g beans in 25 seconds. Tasted quite nice. The only issue is that apparently there is a much larger amount of crema, and it completely filled my ACF cup. With my SmartGrinder I could easily get 36g of coffee in the same cup. I'm not sure exactly what this means for me. Do I buy bigger cups? Smaller baskets? Ignore coffee spilling over the edge of my cups?
It wasn't a side effect that I expected. Of course, I probably shouldn't jump to any conclusions after one day.
